The INTI solar car was designed and is made by Solar Transport Systems Inc (STS), a US company incorporated in the state of Florida. STS was originally founded in the United Kingdom in 2012 by Julian Field with the purpose of making solar powered transportation an everyday reality in sunny countries.

The company re-located to Florida in 2023 so it could test its prototypes in reliably sunny weather. Julian, who is British, has longstanding ties with Florida which date back to his days as a student at the Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech) where he earned bachelor’s degrees in electrical and computer engineering.

STS is a licensed US car manufacturer which enables it to issue VIN numbers and Manufacturer Statements of Origin (MSOs - the car’s ‘birth certificate’) for the INTI. It is also a licensed car dealer which enables it to sell the INTI directly to consumers with legal registration documents.

STS launched the INTI publicly in May 2025 and began production in November of the same year. It is a privately owned company with strong management and engineering teams committed to producing high quality vehicles and backing them up with best in class after sales service.
