Celebrating the Solar Race. Living the Solar Reality.

Celebrating the Solar Race. Living the Solar Reality. - Solar Transport Systems

This past Sunday, the world's most ambitious solar car race kicked off in Australia. The 2025 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge saw 34 teams from around the globe compete in a grueling 3,000-kilometer (1,864-mile) journey across the outback, from Darwin to Adelaide. The race has now concluded, with the first vehicles arriving in Adelaide today, August 28th.

This year’s race was especially challenging, as it was held in the Australian winter for the first time. Cooler temperatures and up to 20% less sunlight forced teams to focus more on energy efficiency and strategy, and they responded with incredible feats of engineering.

For decades, solar cars have been prototypes built for these kinds of extreme races. They’ve pushed the boundaries of engineering, but they were never designed for a solar challenge. They were built for competition, not for the simple, free, and smart travels of your daily life.

The Evolution of Race Cars

The engineering on display was nothing short of spectacular, with teams introducing new technologies to gain a competitive edge.

Challenger Class Highlights

The Belgian Innoptus Solar Team took home first place with their car, Infinite Apollo, after a final time of 34 hours, 54 minutes, and 21 seconds. Their car featured an adaptive ride height system called “The Bounce” and a "Double Fin" for better crosswind stability.

The top finishers in the Challenger Class were:

  • 2nd Place: Brunel Solar Team (Netherlands) with their car, Nuna 13.

  • 3rd Place: Solar Team Twente (Netherlands) with their car, Red Discover.

  • 4th Place: Team Sonnenwagen Aachen (Germany). They were the fastest qualifying vehicle of the race, completing a "hot laps" time trial in just 1:52.51.

  • 5th Place: Tokai University Solar Car Team (Japan).

  • 6th Place: Western Sydney University (Australia) with their car, UNLIMITED 6.0. They were the top Australian team, with their car able to travel 300km on the same amount of energy a Tesla needs to travel 25km.

  • 7th Place: The University of Michigan Solar Car Team (USA), the highest-ranking North American team.

Cruiser Class and Event Highlights

In the Cruiser Class, the Solaride team from Estonia won the design judging with a score of 87.8. The overall race winner was the Australian Sunswift team.

Engineered for Your Life: The Challenges of the Everyday

While the teams in Australia chase the sun to win a race, the INTI chases the sun to give you a liberating life. The INTI is the world’s first production solar car—a street-legal vehicle that brings the dream of solar-powered mobility to your driveway. We watched as solar cars evolved from prototypes to race vehicles, and we built the next chapter in that history: a solar car for the challenges of everyday neighborhood life.

The INTI is built to simplify your daily routine and make every trip a joyride. Whether you’re grabbing coffee, heading to the grocery store, or taking care of errands, the INTI makes every mile simple, free, and smart. And because the INTI is designed to be parked outside to catch the sun, it charges while you live your life—even while you're at a café sipping your latte or parked in your driveway.

With the new Golf Bag Holder, the INTI is also the perfect way to get to the golf course. This is how INTI is redefining neighborhood travel: by focusing on the real-world scenarios that make life special.

Your Journey to a Liberated Life

The race in Australia is an inspiring reminder of human innovation. We’re proud to build on that history and bring solar freedom to a street near you. The INTI is a car that embodies our three core pillars:

  • Simple: While race cars are complex, the INTI simplifies your life. It charges itself just by being parked in the sun—no plugs, no pumps, no problem.

  • Free: While race teams are hyper-focused on efficiency to win, INTI offers you freedom from fuel costs. It gives you up to 35–40 miles of solar-powered range every day for free.

  • Smart: While race cars have specialized features for a grueling race, the INTI's intelligence is practical. It's a street-legal, road-ready LSV with built-in safety features, and enough range for a full day's worth of errands.
