INTI Frequently Asked Questions

PERFORMANCE & DRIVING EXPERIENCE

Q: How fast does the INTI go?

A: The INTI is classed as a Low Speed Vehicle (LSV) which means its speed is limited to 25MPH. It has rapid acceleration making it fun to drive, it has been described as the ‘smile maker’!

Q: Is it fun to drive?

A: Absolutely. We call it the Smile Maker for a reason. Light, zippy, quick, and whisper quiet—it turns every ride into an experience.

Q: What are the dimensions of the INTI?

A: The INTI is 5ft wide x 10ft long x 5ft tall. It’s worth remembering that it is solar charged and therefore should be kept outside, this means it won’t take up space in your garage!

Q: What type of doors does the INTI solar car have?

A: The INTI has open sides except for a door bar that can be opened and closed using a handle on the inside. The door bar keeps you safely inside the car and contains a structural steel tube designed to protect passengers in the event of a side impact. The INTI is designed for use in warm climates and is open-sided to allow air to flow to keep passengers comfortable, similar to an open-sided Jeep or a golf cart. The car has integrated rain covers that can be deployed when it rains.

SOLAR POWER & CHARGING

Q: How does solar charging work?

A: INTI’s roof converts sunlight into energy daily—up to 35 free miles per day. Need more? Plug into any 110V outlet to charge fully in ~5 hours. See a more detailed response including a simple explainer video here.

Q:  What is the INTI’s range?

A:  The INTI has a range of up to 100 miles.  As it is solar powered, each day that it charges in the sunshine it gains up to 35-40 miles of FREE driving, without you doing a thing!

Q: What about cloudy days?

A: No problem. INTI stores enough backup power in its battery to provide up to 100-miles worth of range, and can plug in when needed.  Plug into any standard 110V outlet for a full charge in ~5 hours. Solar isn’t your only option—just the best one.

Q: Can I drive at night?

A: Absolutely. The up to 100-mile battery covers your evening drives and late returns with ease.

Q: Does the INTI have regenerative braking?

A: Yes, it does! When you take your foot off the accelerator the INTI’s regenerative braking system kicks in, gently slowing the car down and generating electricity that is used to charge the battery. This, combined with its solar charging makes the INTI one of the most energy efficient cars in the world!

Q: Where should I park it?

A: Outside! INTI charges in the sun—no garage space needed, no cords required.

SAVINGS & MAINTENANCE

Q: Does the INTI Need Oil Changes?

A: Unlike traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, electric cars like the INTI do not rely on lubricating oil for their propulsion systems. Electric motors operate using electricity to generate power, eliminating the need for oil to lubricate engine components. Therefore, electric vehicles do not require oil changes as part of their regular maintenance routine.

Q: Are there other types of oil that the INTI uses?

A: While the INTI does not use oil in the same way as conventional vehicles, it has does have hydraulic brakes that require brake fluid and its gearbox and differential require lubricating oil. However, these components require minimal maintenance and do not need frequent oil changes.

Q: So, the INTI Can Run Without Oil?

A: Yes, the INTI can operate effectively without the need for oil. The absence of an internal combustion engine means that it does not rely on oil for lubrication or cooling purposes. Instead, its electric motor relies on a different mechanism—electricity—to generate torque and propel the vehicle forward. INTI owners can therefore forego the traditional oil change intervals associated with ICE vehicles, resulting in reduced maintenance costs and environmental impact.

Q: How Often Does the INTI Need Maintenance?

A: While the INTI has fewer moving parts compared to its gasoline-powered counterparts, it still requires regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Common maintenance tasks include:

  1. Tire Rotation and Alignment: Regular tire maintenance helps ensure even wear and optimal handling.
  2. Brake System Inspection: Although the INTI uses regenerative braking to slow down and recharge the battery, it has disc brakes that still require periodic inspection for wear and tear.
  3. Battery Health Check: Monitoring the health and performance of the INTI’s battery is essential for maximizing range and longevity.

Overall, the maintenance requirements for the INTI are less frequent and involve fewer components than Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles.

Q: What makes it so low-maintenance?

A: INTI’s lightweight design and simplified engineering mean fewer moving parts, no gas, and no oil—just clean, simple performance.

Q: How much can I save with INTI?

A: INTI can save up to $14,000 over 15 years, thanks to solar charging and minimal maintenance.

SAFETY & STREET LEGALITY

Q: Is the INTI street legal?

A: Yes, the INTI is street legal and is classed as a Low Speed Vehicle (LSV). This means its speed is limited to 25MPH, it can be driven on roads with a speed limit up to 35MPH and is allowed to drive across roads of any speed limit.

Q: Do I need a driver’s license to drive the INTI?

A: Yes, you need a regular driver’s license.

Q: Do I need to insure the INTI?

A: Yes, you will need to insure it as a Low Speed Vehicle (LSV). LSV insurance is available from most insurance brokers, the cost is significantly lower than regular car insurance.

Q: What roads can the INTI be driven on?

A: The INTI is a Low Speed Vehicle (LSV) which has a maximum speed of 25MPH, it can be driven on roads with a speed limit up to 35MPH and can be driven across roads of any speed limit.

DELIVERY & REGISTRATION

Q: Where can you deliver the INTI to?

A: We are based in Florida and can deliver the INTI to an address in Florida. If you live elsewhere, you can find an address in Florida, for example a shipper, where we will deliver the car to, you will then be responsible for onward shipment to your location. The INTI will be registered in the State of Florida with a Florida license plate, you may need to re-register it with your local authority.

GENERAL

Q: Isn’t the INTI just a golf cart?

A: While there are some similarities, there are a few fundamental differences.

  1. The INTI was designed to be driven safely on the road so it has safety features such as a full roll cage, side-impact bars, three-point seatbelts, head restraints and regulation front and rear bumpers. Golf carts are designed to be driven on golf courses, so these safety features are absent. Although golf carts can be made road legal with the addition of lights and mirrors, without these built-in safety features they are not as safe as the INTI.
  2. The INTI was designed to be fully solar powered, it is therefore a foot wider than a golf cart which allows it to absorb more solar energy. Golf carts were not designed to be solar powered, their roofs are too narrow to collect meaningful amounts of solar energy.
  3. Because the INTI is solar powered, it was designed to be parked outside to catch the sun. Golf carts are not designed to be kept outdoors and are usually parked in garages where there is no sunshine (incidentally, this feature of the INTI can free up a lot of space in your garage!)

Although the INTI is not a golf cart, it is lighter than most golf carts and can be fitted with turf tires and a golf bag holder making it suitable for use on golf courses.

Q: Does the INTI have air-conditioning?

A: The INTI is powered by solar energy and as such it needs to be much lighter than other vehicles. It is also designed for use in sunny, warm places. To ensure our customers have a comfortable ride, we designed the INTI with open sides to ensures good air flow (if you’ve ever been in a golf cart you’ll know what we mean). In summary, we think you will find the INTI a cool ride in more ways than one.

Q: Does the INTI have an LCD touch screen?

A: Yes! The LCD touch screen allows you to easily monitor key vehicle information including speed, battery charge, trip and total miles. It also has Bluetooth connectivity allowing you to connect your mobile phone and play your favorite music through the onboard stereo speakers.

Q:  Is INTI really eco-friendly?

A: Yes. From its manufacturing to every mile driven, INTI avoids up to 81 tons of CO₂ over its lifetime. It’s clean, quiet, and proudly solar.
